چکیده

Different methods to design digital filters aimed for equalization of loudspeaker/room responses are considered. Design of inverse filters is based on measured loudspeaker/room impulse responses combined with roomand psychoacoustic knowledge. Frequency dependent smoothing and nonlinear equalization effort is applied, and a new iterative method based on both timeand frequency domain criteria is proposed.

Equalization of Loudspeaker and Room Responses Using Kautz Filters: Direct Least Squares Design

DSP-based correction of loudspeaker and room responses is becoming an important part of improving sound reproduction. Such response equalization (EQ) is based on using a digital filter in cascade with the reproduction channel to counteract the response errors introduced by loudspeakers and room acoustics. Several FIR and IIR filter design techniques have been proposed for equalization purposes....

Comparisonof LoudspeakerEqualization Methods Basedon DSPTechniques*

Methods of loudspeaker response equalization using digital filters are compared. In addition to generally known methods and techniques a recently introduced new principle, based on warped filters, is described. Different equalization methods are compared from the points of view of equalization error both objectively and subjectively, computational efficiency, as well as robustness and precision...

MATLAB Programfor LoudspeakerEqualizatiOnand CrossoverDesign*

A digital design filterprogram is presented written in the MATLAB environment. Impulse response time editing is implemented together with various options for spectral domain processing. The filter inputs time-domain impulse response dataand outputs filter coefficients for both FIR and ILR implementations. Comprehensive display options are incorporated, including minimum-phase processing and CDS...

- 1 - the Excess Phase in Loudspeaker / Roomtransfer

The impulse response c[n] characterizing the system of a loudspeaker and a microphone placed in a closed room contains information on the electroacoustical properties of loudspeaker and microphone as well as the acoustical properties of the room. The corresponding transfer function C(z) offers information on the magnitude and phase of the system when regarded as a digital filter. A part of this...

Audio Equalization with Fixed-Pole Parallel Filters: An Efficient Alternative to Complex Smoothing

Recently, the fixed-pole design of parallel second-order filters has been proposed to accomplish arbitrary frequency resolution similarly to Kautz filters, at 2/3 of their computational cost. This paper relates the parallel filter to the complex smoothing of transfer functions. Complex smoothing is a well-established method for limiting the frequency resolution of audio transfer functions for a...
